OCD and Anxiety
Living with OCD or body-focused repetitive behaviors can be overwhelming and isolating. Intrusive thoughts, urges, worries, or behaviors like hair pulling or skin picking can dominate your day and leave you feeling stuck. You understand that your fears don’t make sense, yet they still feel overwhelming and hard to ignore. You want to live a normal life and not get caught up in the powerful swell of obsessions or compulsive behaviors. Your goals may include improving daily functioning, building healthy and authentic relationships, and feeling confident in who you are.

Anxiety can come in many forms. It may look like rumination, "thought loops," or just feeling stuck. You know that your anxiety doesn't help you accomplish anything or make you a better person. Your goals may include feeling free of worries of doubts and moving more confidently in the world.

Theory, Technique, and Evidence-Based Approach
I use Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Aceeptance and Comittment Therapy, and Mindfulness as my unique blend of theory, technique, and evidence-based approach
Exposure and Response Prevention is the gold standard for treating OCD and Anxiety Disorders. The approach involves identifying fears and obsessions and learning to tolerate them. The ERP approach involved repeated and planned exposures to the fear at the client's pace, results in tolerating and managing fear and anxiety. Overtime, reliance on compulsions will decrease and subside.
Acceptance and Comittment Therapy helps individual accept and allow thoughts and feelings without trying to control them. Clients identify and lean into their values in order to stop repressing, ignoring, or fighting with obsessions or fears.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is also the gold standard approach for identifying anxious and unhelpful thoughts and patterns that maintain fear, avoidance, or perfectionism. Through cognitive restructuring and behavioral activations, clients learn to relate differently to anxious thoughts or patterns. CBT decreases fear or anxiety and promotes emotional agility, cognitive flexibility, and general improved functioning.
Mindfulness, specifically Mindful Self-Compassion is key to build a healthy sense of self. OCD and Anxiety tend to diminish self-worth over time, and with Mindfulness and Self-Compassion, clients experience more positive feelings, thoughts, and behaviors towards the self.
